The Lord has opened doors of extraordinary favor in the nation of Brazil. We seem to have hit a sovereign time frame, where virtually every leader we talk to has opened their hearts and ministries to the vision of TheCall.
On June 30th, 2008 we were able to hold a Solemn Assembly in the government buildings of the nation’s capitol city
of Brasilia. From the moment we entered the building, a spirit of repentance was there. For 11 hours, Brazilians wept over the sins of their nation. Many government officials came. Although the President of Brazil was unable to come, he sent a personal letter thanking us for the invitation. Major church leaders came and layed before the Lord for hours at a time. Everyone who was there said they had never been part of anything like it and we all noticed the spiritual shift. It was prophesied that the ungodly foundations were being replaced with the revelation of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone.
A very incredible opportunity was given to us to do a significant prophetic act during the day. A Christian asked for a helicopter to be given to us so we could fly over the city and pour wine, oil and grain (signifying the blood of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit and harvest) at key junctions of the city. We were given permission for a free helicopter with two pilots. So, in the middle of the Solemn Assembly, Stacey Campbell, Kelry Green, and another Brazilian leader got in the helicopter with the Christian who had been trained in helicopter rescue. As we flew over the city, she hung out of the helicopter and poured wine, oil, and grain at 4 key junctures. As we were flying home, the unsaved helicopter pilot noted that we had flown in the shape of the cross over the city.
While in the air, occupying the place where the prince of the power air abides (Ephesians 2:2), we prophesied the breaking up of ungodly foundations and interceded for a new generation of overcoming believers to arise in Brazil. It was incredibly powerful.
When we returned to the Solemn Assembly, the leaders were moving in a spirit of repentance that was deep and genuine. The spirit of prayer was there the entire 11 hours.
The significance of the day was felt immediately. The following day, the main leader of TheCall in Brasilia, Gustavo Paiva, went to a high school where he had been ministering. He preached and did an altar call and the entire high school gave their lives to Jesus. 400 kids received Christ as their Savior, with only three students in the whole high school refusing to become Christians. The next day, 300 more students received Christ in the middle school. Yeah God!!!! A new generation is arising on the earth!
We flew back to Sao Paulo for three significant meetings:
1) We met the Vice President of a Brazilian Prayer organization (with almost 200,000 registered intercessors) which mobilized 40 days of Prayer and fasting. He said they would come to TheCall Curitiba and share the vision of TheCall with all their prayer contacts.
2) This morning we met with one of the top leaders of the municipal government of Sao Paulo (greater Sao Paulo has a population of 20 million, making it one of the world’s largest cities). We shared with him the vision of doing a repentance march and TheCall in 2010 for over a million people and asked him if he would help us do this. He said that it was guaranteed that sometime between September 7th and November 15th, 2010, he would give us free police escorts, free stadium and be the government liaison for a one to two million person Call in Sao Paulo. He also said his mother is over 5-6000 women intercessors in Sao Paulo, and he asked us to meet with her to organize intercession for the event!!! I told him I would ask her to help us as well, since his mother worked with Women’s Aglow.
3) Next we went and met the son of the president of the Brazilian Pastors Coalition. We told him the vision of TheCall and he said that their church has a network of 30,000 pastors. He would use their network for mobilization. Every year they gather 10,000 pastors at a pastor’s conference, and every month they gather 2,000 to 3,000 pastors for a pastor’s breakfast. We can use all of their venues for mobilization. They even offered their building and network for us to put on one of our “Opening the Heavens Over Brazil” Conferences. We would do a House of Prayer conference in 2009 to help mobilize for the 2010 Call.
We then flew to Bella Horizonte to meet some of the top worship leaders of the nation and speak at one of the nation’s most influential churches. They expressed their desire to hold a Solemn Assembly there as well.
The week after we arrived home, we received news that Brazil has just utterly rejected a bill to legalize abortion. I have pasted a portion of the article from Breaking Christian News below:
Abortion to Remain Illegal in Brazil after 17 Years of Abortion Supporters' Attempts to decriminalize it; Brazilians Overwhelmingly Pro-Life - Matthew Cullinan Hoffman (July 14, 2008)
"The right to life constitutes the supreme value of the Constitution, because all other rights are derived from it."
(Brasilia, Brazil) — Two bills to decriminalize abortion in Brazil were defeated for the third time in recent weeks, in what may be the final blow to legislation that has been under consideration for over 17 years in the Brazilian National Congress.
The latest defeat was dealt by the Constitution, Justice, and Citizenship Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Brazil's lower legislative house, in a crushing 30-4 vote, after the head of the committee, Eduardo Cunha, rejected the legislation on June 26th.
Every where we go, we have unusual and extraordinary favor. Ton Sampaio, one of the leaders helping mobilize TheCall Curitiba was just given a 50,000 seat stadium for free, along with free lighting and free sound system for November 15th, 2008. This is worth almost a half a million US dollars!! In exchange, the municipal government asked us to help them put on a Christian concert to raise money for their anti-drug campaign. So we will have some of the top Christian worship leaders put on a “Christians Against Drugs” concert, with all the proceeds being given to the anti-drug campaign.
